Purford Green School

Pupil Leadership

At Purford Green we are proud to involve pupils in every aspect of our school development. To support this we have two  groups of pupils that ensure children's views impact on decisions leaders at all levels male.

Pupil Voice Team

Pupil representatives that take part in Class and Pupil voice meetings.  These meetings are in place so that pupils have a voice and are involved in decisions about the school that affect them.  Through Class meetings all pupils have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas and take part in discussions that involve all of their classmates in reaching a democratic solution.  Wider issues that arise in Class meetings are discussed further at Pupil Voice, this ensures that as many pupil voices as possible are heard.  Pupils at Purford Green know that this is their school and their thoughts and ideas matter.

  • Pupil voice representatives are nominated and then voted in by their class mates, with elections taking place each academic year.
  • At Pupil voice meetings there is a Chair and a Vice Chair, along with a secretary who takes notes and creates minutes of the meeting. Throughout the week children will jot any issues, concerns, worries or ideas etc that they wish to discuss at the class meeting, these are shared as part of the agenda.

Pupil Leadership Team

Representatives from our PE, Science and Wellbeing Ambassadors as well as our pupil voice team, meet regularly with our House Captains and a member of the senior leadership team. The main aim of this group is to monitor actions  implemented from the school development plan and review the impact these have had on children across the school. They can do this in several ways:

  • sharing their own views

  • sharing the views of the different pupil leadership / voice groups

  • asking the views of children in their class

  • asking the views of staff

  • asking the views of parents.

When their monitoring is complete the pupil leadership team attend a senior leadership team meeting and the local governing body meeting to feedback their monitoring as well as their recommendations for the next steps. Pupils know their monitoring is listened to and has an impact on the development of the school.
